  • +Saying there’s never been a female Alan Moore or Grant Morrison pre-assumes that there could never be a female Moore or Morrison+ Not really, but then there aren't that many MALE Moores or Morrisons, either. But comics should be a meritocracy; the best creators coming up w- the best stories they are capable of telling. IMHO, the medium doesn't attract the best female writers, full-stop, quite yet (they write novels) & no names stand out when pondering a female equivalent to Moore or Gaiman.

The problem, of course, is that the playing field isn’t level, and hasn’t been in the past. So this becomes a self-fulfilling prophesy, like those people back in the day who’s make arguments about black people being naturally less intelligent when they hadn’t had the advantages of the same education available to whites. It’s all a reason to open the doors widely and welcome creators from all sorts of backgrounds who may have something to say. Once upon a time, British creators wouldn’t have been able to write for Marvel or DC either, and then you didn’t have any Moores or Morrisons.
