  • Are there really enough good Daredevil stories that you could do a "50 Greatest..." countdown? I couldn't even name that many offhand!

    Absolutely. There are probably more great Daredevil stories than ANY other Marvel character. Off the top of my head in a semi-particular order:

    1. Daredevil: Born Again
    2. Daredevil: Guardian Devil
    3. The first Waid/Martin arc
    4. First Bendis/Maleev arc
    5. Um, Elektra/Bullseye Miller/Janson
    6. Mack/Quesada DD/Echo
    7. The amazing Waid/Rivera Spot story
    8. Man Without Fear
    9. DD: Yellow
    10. Waid/Samnee Purple Man story
    11. Bendis/Maleev second arc
    12. Last Days
    13. Love and War
    14. Brubaker/Lark first arc
    15. Bendis/Mack story
    16. First Waid/Samnee arc
    17. Oh crap, first Nocenti/Romita Jr. Arc
    18. The fun Karl Kesel story in DD 1.50
    19. The amazing Waid/Rodriguez Original Sin story
    20. The Jason Latour short story

    And that’s without breaking a sweat. I mean it. There are WAY more great Daredevil stories than great Spider-Man, X-Men, FF, etc. Only character in comics as a whole with more might (and I mean MIGHT) be Batman.

    Daredevil has been consistently excellent since around the turn of the century. I don’t think any other franchise at the Big Two can claim that.
